Care and Counseling at Immanuel Bible Church 
The Care and Counseling Ministry exists to help the congregation care for each other’s burdens and to help our community deal with life situations in ways that are honoring to our Lord Jesus Christ. We are blessed with a wonderful group of volunteers who faithfully serve God in these vital ministries.
Our Care Ministry reaches out to special needs through our Extending Hand’s Senior Visitation Ministry for those who are homebound or in nursing homes. Food Pantry helps people in our community and Immanuel family with emergency grocery assistance and our Deaf Ministry seeks to communicate the Gospel to the unsaved and facilitate Biblical teaching to believers in the deaf community.
The Lay Counseling Ministry has been serving Immanuel more than 20 years. Trained Lay Counselors are available to the Immanuel family. A confidential setting is offered to help others better understand and address their specific challenges in life.
The Lay Counselor Training Program meets for 20 weeks. Eighteen of the training sessions are two hours long – one hour of education and one hour of practical application. Two of the trainings are seminars (one all day and one evening).
Support Groups are open to IBC and the community. Health Challenges Support Group helps people with ongoing health concerns; In His Image Support Group helps men with moral and spiritual accountability; One Another Support Group offers support for women who are survivors of sexual abuse; New Beginnings Support Group offers community and healing for those who have lost a spouse; Faithful Friend’s Support Group and resource center is for women who are facing a landslide combination of medical and emotional challenges in their families.
We offer special Workshops that include CPREP (couple’s communication workshop) which is recommended by Dallas Theological Seminary, Dobson, Gary Smalley and is used in the four branches of the military. GriefShare Workshop is a special seminar and discussion group for people grieving the loss of someone close; Safe People Workshop is for women determined to make better choices about the relationships they commit to; Boundaries Workshop is for women who seek spiritual growth, a challenge to change, problem solving skills and recovery of hope. Anger Management Workshop is offered to those who wish to turn anger into compassion – a spiritual approach and highly effective skills based program. Premarital Mentoring is offered to engaged couples and seeks to equip each couple to build a Christ-honoring, lifelong fulfilling marriage.
