Immanuel Bible Institute
The Purpose of Immanuel Bible Institute
The Immanuel Bible Institute provides a foundational Bible education in support of the ministries of Immanuel Bible Church.
The Institute offers biblical courses not currently available through other venues at Immanuel. The IBI mission is to equip believers as they become mature followers of Jesus Christ and prepare them for service in the church and for local and worldwide outreach.
Dear Adult Learners,
As we get “off the corner and into the community,” we are sure to find that our neighborhoods include all different kinds of people. I wouldn’t be surprised if one or more of your neighbors worships at a Catholic church. As we seek to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to every neighbor within our reach, it will be important to understand how our Catholic friends fit into that. In some cases, we may be partnering with them. At other times, it may be necessary to share the biblical basis for the differences in our beliefs. At all times, we want to show respect. So how do we accomplish all that?
A good beginning is this Fall’s course The Catholic Next Door, taught by Andrew Potter. Andrew taught a similar course at the Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California and we are exited to have him as an IBI instructor. In this course you can expect to grow in an understanding of how the differences developed. But beyond that, you will gain an understanding of the rationale behind certain Catholic theological issues, and how that compares with Immanuel’s Statement of Faith.
Central to the Christian faith is salvation in Jesus Christ. For us, every other theology must properly relate to it biblically. How beautiful that a child can understand enough about the gospel to be saved, yet a scholar can spend a lifetime plumbing the depths of soteriology – the study of salvation. I’ll be teaching The Riches of Our Salvation this Fall, to bring us into a greater understanding of the many aspects of salvation, which will in turn deepen our appreciation for the glory and grace of our God.
We are Immanuel BIBLE Church. Central to everything we believe is the Scripture. It is essential that we know it, and how to study it. That’s why we continuously offer a Bible study methods course. Tony Dronkers, one of our deacons, will be teaching The 30x5 Bible Study Method course, which combines video instruction by Dr. Howard Hendricks with live class discussion on how to observe, interpret, and apply the Bible. Concepts will be easily adaptable for use by individuals in personal study or group use in community Bible study groups. The course includes in-class exercises, and Tony will also be offering an optional evening study (not an IBI course), beginning in October, as a practicum to apply the principles you learn.
And this just added… Bobby Little will be teaching Make Disciples: Following the Command of Christ. Check out the course description below and grow in essential Christianity.
The Fall semester starts on September 7, classes fill quickly, and registration is easy. Read on, find our more about of Fall courses, and equip yourself for ministry!
