Classes:

THE RICHES OF OUR SALVATION
Sunday Morning Course – Fall 2008; Room 112, 9:30am;
Bob Hartman – instructor

The salvation we have in Christ is a beautiful diamond, with facets reflecting different aspects of the wonderful gift God has given us. Theologians use terms like substitutionary atonement, redemption, propitiation, reconciliation, justification, election, and conversion, to name a few. With such technical terms, it’s hard to imagine how, when understood, each draws us into a deeper love for our Savior, magnifies God’s glory, and emboldens our approach to Him. You will appreciate better the immensity of our need, the immeasurableness of God’s provision, and the unimaginable riches freely given to us, all in the salvation found only in Jesus Christ. And the outcome of all this? More worship, less sin, and a life lived more fully by the power of the Holy Spirit.

30x5 BIBLE STUDY METHOD (How to Study the Bible)
Sunday Morning Course – Fall 2008; Room 112, 11am;
Tony Dronkers – instructor

Having trouble getting into the Bible? Do you find it too hard, too boring, or you just don’t know what to do? What if you learned a method to teach you to observe, interpret, and apply a portion of Scripture, starting with 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week? This course will give you the tools to do just that. It will equip you with a practical methodology to teach you to study the Bible for yourself, without directed curriculum. In a step by step process, you will learn what to look for, how to address difficult questions, and ways in which your study should impact your daily life. The course will utilize both live and video instruction (video instruction featuring Howard Hendricks) and will include both classroom and take-home exercises. If you teach the Bible, this is an ESSENTIAL course!

MAKE DISCIPLES: FOLLOWING THE COMMAND OF CHRIST
Sunday Morning Course – Fall 2008; Room 114, 11AM;
Bobby Little – instructor

What is discipleship? What did Jesus mean by “all that I have commanded you” in the Great Commission? How much does it take to get it done, and what are the tools and principles necessary to grow, both in discipleship and making disciples? This interactive course will answer these questions and help you become a more effective disciple of Jesus Christ, making disciples in the process.

THE CATHOLIC AROUND THE CORNER
Sunday Morning Course – Fall 2008; Annex 3,11am;
Andrew Potter– instructor
This course begins September 14
Is there a Catholic in your life - perhaps a neighbor, co-worker, or a relative? How do their views of salvation compare with ours here at Immanuel?… What about their view of the Church…the authority of the Bible...Heaven & Hell… and prayer to saints, especially Mary? This course will include a good bit of Christian history, and will help you understand why Catholics believe as they do. It will investigate papal authority, the Catholic Bible, and the sacramental view of relating to God. It will move beyond criticism to searching out points of common belief, helping you to understand and build a bridge to your Catholic neighbor – respectfully disagreeing when necessary, while tactfully offering biblical perspectives on common aspects of our faith in Jesus Christ.
